BEHAVIOR CONSULTATIONS

Cowering, hiding, trembling, barking, growling, lunging, snapping, biting. It breaks my heart just to type these words. How stressful it must be for your dog – and you – to be struggling with these behaviors. Please know that there is hope.

Help for your dog's fearful, anxious, reactive, or aggressive behaviors begins with a remote video consultation (in-person options after). We will discuss in detail your dog's behavior, your goals, my assessment and prognosis, and "homework" you can start right away. Examples of behavior concerns I can help with include:

Barking and lunging at dogs on walks
Barking and lunging at people on walks
Barking, growling, snapping, or biting visitors in the home
Growling, snapping, or biting over food, toys, or other resources
Growling, snapping, or biting during handling, grooming, or veterinary visits
Fighting with housemate dog

Fearful or anxious behaviors around unfamiliar people
Fearful or anxious behaviors involving the car or car rides
Fearful or anxious behaviors during thunderstorms or other noise events
Fearful or anxious behaviors in daily life in general
Fighting with or targeting dogs at parks

FOLLOW-UP TRAINING SESSIONS

At the initial behavior consultation, we'll discuss what training going forward looks like and my suggestion for follow-up training sessions. I'll make a realistic recommendation based on your goals. I usually suggest having your first training session within 10 days of the consultation.

Training sessions may be in-person at my home (located in 60646), in-person at your home, or remote via Zoom. For some behaviors, I might suggest in-person sessions immediately. For others, I might suggest remote sessions until we reach a certain point in the training.
